About Me
My love for psychology began many decades ago when I became fascinated by the inner workings of the mind and how this impacts us on a physiological level. As with many therapists, I felt drawn to this work as a way to personally heal. I wanted to become better equipped to handle challenges in my life and, in doing so, became curious about how we unconsciously repeat what we have not processed. I also experienced how the help of a trusted professional can profoundly enhance efforts to make positive changes in life.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I've also pursued wellness through a wide range of approaches outside western medicine including yoga, acupuncture, herbal and food medicine. I am not an expert in these areas but I have a cadre of trusted practitioners I believe are experts in their fields and I reach out to them as referral resources if someone wishes to augment the work we do together.
For the past 25 years I have been in full-time private practice working with adults to break free from anxiety, depression, trauma and a wide range of mental health concerns. Early on in my career, I worked with at-risk youth and consulted in private, elementary and middle schools.
I earned a Doctorate in clinical psychology, a Masters in school psychology and a Masters in applied psychology.
Beginner’s Mind
I am not formulaic nor do I make assumptions—no two clients are alike. An authentic interest in your life is where I begin and what I will maintain throughout our work together. Remembering that we don’t know all the answers is a prerequisite for self-observation without judgment. A beginner's mind is not only for children, it is for us adults as well.
Curiosity
Whatever is happening on the surface usually has roots somewhere. I focus on what is happening in one’s life currently but always with an eye towards appreciating personal and generational family history. There are often hints of, and even connections between, what has happened before in our lives and what is happening now.

“(S)he saw my complications and (s)he mirrored me back simplified. And we laughed how our perfections would always be denied.”
— Joni Mitchell
