MELISSA  A. VIVINO PHD

My work involves ways to promote a better connection between our actions and  our intentions . They are often not the same. You can have the desire or intention to do or say something in a certain way but you find that is not how it comes across to others or even yourself. To gain this understanding requires a commitment to looking at your unique personal patterns in a more integrated and layered manner.  It means becoming aware ( perhaps for the first time) how the impression you wish to make upon others and situations might not be happening in the ways you wish no matter how much or how often you try. It is about exploring places you are feeling anxious, depressed, stuck, tired or frustrated.  It is work that will help you in directing your emotions and thoughts that match your intentions and result in more positive outcomes in your life . This includes taking a personal review of your life experiences. Sometimes it involves challenging some ideas you might have about yourself.  I believe therapy is a journey to discover and to build a strong sense of self while negotiating  family and friend relationships,  career expectations and the demands on us from our culture. I believe this kind of self awakening is the most important work you can do for yourself.
I have a Doctorate in clinical psychology, a Masters in school psychology and a Masters in applied psychology.
